WARNING: As the tour rehearsals progress we will be posting spoilers about songs on the site itself. We will try to give advance warning about these in this fashion. THIS STORY CONTAINS SPOILERS. If you continue reading below you will find spoilers about songs that were heard at the venue for today’s performance. We would ask that you remember some fans do not want spoilers before the start of the tour, and use caution when posting about this story on your social media feeds.

U2 are rehearsing for the upcoming eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour in Laval, Quebec, just outside of Montreal. Rehearsals began April 9, 2017 at Place Bell, a small arena. The arena is a newer one, opened in 2017. Today, April 18, marked the tenth day since U2 arrived in Laval and started working on things.

There will be song spoilers in this report from this point onward.

Or, as our friends at U2Tour.de say, “ACHTUNG SPOILER!

The band arrived throughout the afternoon and started rehearsals around 5:45pm. Bono came out to greet fans before the rehearsal session started. He signed some autographs and took some photos.

The band is still practicing specific songs, with work being done over and over on different pieces of songs. To the best of our knowledge this is what they played:

  • “Desire” (Partial)
  • “Desire” (Partial)
  • “Desire” (Partial)
  • “Desire”
  • “The Showman” (Partial)
  • “Desire” (Just the end)
  • “The Showman”
  • “The Ocean”
  • “Iris”
  • “The Ocean” (Partial)
  • “Iris” (Start Only)
  • “The Ocean”
  • “Iris” (Start Only)
  • “Sunday Bloody Sunday”
  • “Raised by Wolves”

At this point it appeared that the band had started a fuller run through of the full music. But they only did two songs before taking an extended break, plus an introductory song that was likely pre-recorded, and was too faint to be heard clearly.

  • unknown song (possibly pre-recorded, not “Love is All We Have Left”)
  • “The Blackout”
  • “Lights of Home”

At this point there was a long break from performance. When the band returned a few hours later a full run down of what is believed to be may be a full show was done:

  • Unknown Pre-Recorded song (Possibly vocals by Bono)
  • “Love is All We Have Left” (Pre-Recorded)
  • “The Blackout”
  • “Lights of Home”
  • “Beautiful Day”
  • “I Will Follow”
  • “The Ocean”
  • “Iris”
  • “Cedarwood Road”
  • “Song for Someone”
  • “Sunday Bloody Sunday”
  • “Raised by Wolves”
  • “Until the End of the World”
  • “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me”
  • “Elevation”
  • “Staring at the Sun”
  • “Pride (In the Name of Love)”
  • “Get Out of Your Own Way”
  • “American Soul”
  • “City of Blinding Lights”
  • “One”
  • “Love is Bigger Than Anything in its Way”
  • “13 (There is a Light)”

We believe that is the end of the rehearsal for this evening, although if more is performed we will update when able. All appears to be quiet for now.

On day six of rehearsals, the band also did a full run down of a show, and it was very similar to what was performed tonight, although tonight may be a secondary version of the set list for those cities where a second night is being performed. The practice tonight had “Iris” added in between “The Ocean” and “Cedarwood Road”, which was not present on the first full run through. “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Raised by Wolves” now follow “Song for Someone”, in the previous rehearsal it was “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses” and “Acrobat”.

Also different than the last rehearsal, the band skips over “Desire,” “Vertigo,” “The Showman,” and “You’re the Best Thing About Me” tonight, skipping direct from “Elevation” into “Staring at the Sun”. This may be because of a later start tonight and a desire to finish up at a decent hour with Bono due to fly to Texas tomorrow.

“Desire” was played with some sirens early in the practice, and other noises reminiscent of the Hollywood Mix of that song. The other focus early on was on the transition between “The Ocean” and “Iris” early in the rehearsal.

Many thanks to Talie, Karin, Annouche, Jean-Paul, Antoine, Jason, Olivier, Nathalie, Jason, Pierre, Alexandre, Isabelle, Oli and a few contributors who wished to remain unnamed for sending information to us and sharing information over the last few days.
