"Again" (2003)
Demo Song
Background Information
“Again” is a demo title that has been mentioned since 2003. However, we believe it was never a U2 title, and was part of an internet fake news story about the Tomb Raider 2 soundtrack.
In May 2003 a rumour appeared that U2 would contribute a song to the Tomb Raider 2 soundtrack. It suggested they would perform on two different songs on the soundtrack, “Again,” and “Try to Believe This.” If you look at the titles of those two songs, it raises doubts already as “Again” would refer to U2 appearing on the soundtrack a second time, and “Try to Believe This” likely refers to it being a rumour, and probably just a hoax. Elektra Records went on statement at the time saying that there was no truth to the rumour. This however, hasn’t stopped these two song titles from appearing in lists of U2 demos over the years. We believe no songs by U2 were planned for this soundtrack, and that this was a hoax.
The full track listing of the soundtrack was said to be:
- “Again” – U2
- “First Ever” – TLC
- “Let’s Go” – Missy Elliot / Timbaland
- “Revolution” – Melanie C
- “Stay Together or Not” – Pink featuring L’il Kim
- “Shout” – Meja
- “A World Without War” – Mariah Carey
- “Not to Die” – Eminem
- “Missing” (Tomb Raider Mix) – Everything But the Girl
- “Try to Believe This” – U2
- “All Alone” – Lene Marlin
- “Lady Weapon” – N*E*R*D
- “You Can Fly” – Chemical Brothers
- “For the Time Being Goodbye” – Angelina Jolie
A quick look through the internet finds most of these song titles are fake, and these artists have never released songs under these titles. The soundtrack eventually released for Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life featured not one of these artists mentioned in this rumour, and certainly did not include U2.
