Background Information
“MFRR” was a song developed for 1997’s Pop album.
On August 31, 1996, MTV News ran some information taken from an interview with Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton in the magazine DJ Times.
Four of the titles for songs U2 are working on that are expected to appear on their next album have now surfaced. The titles of the songs are: “Super City Mania,” “Holy Joe,” “Gone,” and “MFRR.” Thus far, only one of those tracks has been completed.
“MFRR” was later confirmed to have morphed into “Mofo”, while “Super City Mania” became “Miami”. “Holy Joe” was released as a B-Side, and “Gone” appeared on Pop.
