"Military Jam" (1995)

Demo Song

Background Information

Brian Eno published his diary from 1995, called A Year with Swollen Appendices. It was published as a book in 1996 by Faber and Faber in the UK. That was the year that Eno worked with U2 on Original Soundtracks 1, and the book makes mention of a number of demos and working titles throughout. “Military Jam” is one of the songs included in the book.

The first mention of this title was “Marius made a very groovy but somewhat ‘by-the-yard’ version of ‘Military Jam’.” and he makes short mentions of it elsewhere saying, “To studio – nice mix of ‘Military Jam’: voice and ambiance, in style of Edge’s ditto.”

On the June 6 list of titles, there is no longer a song named “Military Jam” in Eno’s list so it had either become something else or had been dropped by that point.
