The tracks included here are all taken from the commercial singles, released in 1997 on CD, cassette and vinyl. The “To Love and Only Love” collection is an effort by U2 to upgrade their offerings on streaming services. Many of these tracks have not been available in the past on these services. Twelve singles in total are being reissued in 2024. This is the sixth of those singles to be released, with a new release coming every two weeks. To date, all of the singles released have been from the album Pop, which had six singles released commercially in 1997. “The Sweetest Thing” from 1998 is likely the next single to receive this remastering treatment.

The songs included on the new “Mofo” release, available tomorrow, are as follows:

  • “Mofo” (Phunk Phorce Mix / Remastered 2024) – U2 (08:45)
  • “Mofo” (Mother’s Mix / Remastered 2024) – U2 (08:57)
  • “Mofo” (Black Hole Dub / Remastered 2024) – U2 (06:50)
  • “Mofo” (House Flavour Mix / Remastered 2024) – U2 (07:20)
  • “Mofo” (Romin Remix / Remastered 2024) – U2 (05:52)

The “Mofo” single contains a number of remixes, just as the original did. The Phunk Phorce mix and Black Hole dub are remixed by Matthew Roberts. The Mother’s Mix and House Flavour Mix are both remixed by Roni Size. The Romin Remix is remixed by Johnny Moy.

“Mofo” in 1997 was part of a two part single with “If God Will Send His Angels”. Both were released simultaneously, with similar artwork, making “Mofo” more like a second part of the other single. The “Mofo” single was not released commercially in the US in 1997 / 1997, but only released on vinyl..

Some versions of the original single for “Mofo” contained a remix of “If God Will Send His Angels” called The Grand Jury Mix. That track was included on the “If God Will Send His Angels” single issued two weeks ago.

There have been a number of digital releases of the single over the years. The single was available as part of The Complete U2 in 2004. Another reissue was done in 2008 to digital services. Neither of these were remastered versions of the single.

There’s been some question on where to find these on Apple Music. Apple Music seems to be following different filing systems for these as they come out. “Please” and “If God Will Send His Angels” both fall under singles, and are listed with their 1997 release date, so you’ll have to scroll back to find them. “Discotheque” and “Staring at the Sun” are both listed under singles as well, but these are listed with a 2024 release date, so are easily found under singles. “Last Night on Earth” is listed under albums, and with the 1997 release date, so it’s not in an expected location at all.
