Please note that the following article contains information that some may consider a spoiler.

Announced a few days ago, U2 will be performing on this year’s Grammy broadcast, in a performance taped from Sphere in Las Vegas.

The press release from the Grammys shared:

“U2 have been announced as performers at the 2024 GRAMMYs where they will deliver the first-ever broadcast performance from Sphere in Las Vegas. The event will also feature a special awards presentation.” Also included was “The performance at the 2024 GRAMMYs will mark the first-ever broadcast performance from Sphere, a first-of-its-kind, technologically groundbreaking venue.”

The Awards will air on February 4 on CBS Television and Paramount Plus. The show airs from 8:00-11:30 PM, LIVE ET and 5:00-8:30 PM, LIVE PT on the CBS Television Network. It will be available to stream on Paramount Plus for subscribers.

It’s been shared with us that the band will be performing “Atomic City” on the broadcast. The performances have been taped over the two most recent shows at Sphere in Las Vegas. Additional cameras had been seen at the venue taping “Atomic City” for both the shows on January 26 and the one on January 27. To keep the impact on audiences to a minimum, a boom camera that had been set up filmed on one side of the stage one night, and on the other side the second night.

The band have also taped versions of them performing the song at rehearsals ahead of these shows. We expect that what is shown on the Grammys will be drawn from these recordings to date, and will not be a live performance. U2 do not currently have a public performance planned for February 4 in Las Vegas.

It will be Bram van den Berg appearing with the band in the live performance. The marketing media posted by the Grammys includes a new promotional photo of the band including Bram, taken a few days ago for use in the Grammy notification.
